The Up North Combines 2008-racing season came to a close on Saturday 20th September, when the East Cleveland Federations 77 members entry of 1,245 birds were liberated from Selby (3) at 10.30am into a light South West wind It was one of the best days weather wise, of the season with plenty of sunshine around

The biggest race of the Up North Combine young bird programme took place from the Maidstone National on Saturday 13th September when chief convoyer Steve Profitt liberated the convoy of 17,849 birds at 11.35hrs into a light variable wind. There would have being numerous of youngsters pinpointed for this great event but fell by the roadside well before this race.

The Up North Combine was at Peterborough on Saturday 30th August, a different race point from the previous two weeks but the same old sham weather. It was another case of phone back in an hour for a update and this went on until after noon, it was all system go for the East Cleveland Federation

I have a late result from old bird Melton Mowbray (3) and a couple of young bird results, the old bird result has just been discovered struggling to get out of Ray Mole’s wallet. Ten Brotton H/S members sent 173 birds with Bill Heslop and loft helper Les Rigg winning 1st and 2nd with the red card being won by a M & D Evans Gaby Vandenabeele
